Love chocolate mousse? You simply have to try this 2 ingredient chocolate mousse! I like to call it my "cheats mousse".
All you need is some cream and chocolate and within minutes you'll have a deliciously smooth and fluffy mousse that tastes just like the real deal!
There's no egg which is wonderful for those with egg intolerances, pregnant women or anyone who doesn't love the sound of raw egg in a dessert.
Anyone can make this recipe - it truly is that easy! And once you try it, I bet you'll be want to make it again and again.
INGREDIENTS
All you need are two simple ingredients to make this recipe (measurements included in the full recipe at the bottom of this post)...
- Heavy Cream / Thickened Cream
- Chocolate - this is a choose your own adventure. I love milk chocolate, but feel free to use dark chocolate or even white chocolate!
- Optional - fresh fruit and grated chocolate to serve on top.
INSTRUCTIONS
Melt chocolate in the microwave, 20 seconds at a time, until just melted. Set aside to cool.
Whip cream with a hand mixer in a large bowl until stiff peaks form.
Pour melted chocolate over the cream and gently fold together with a spatula until well combined.
Spoon mousse into cups, then chill for an hour (or overnight). Serve with extra whipped cream, fresh fruit and shaved chocolate on top, if desired.
TOP TIPS
- Use whatever chocolate you like - milk, dark or white chocolate. I like to use Cadbury milk chocolate melts.
- Don't whip the cream any further once you've added the chocolate. Fold the chocolate in by hand with a spatula.
- You'll get 6-8 individual serves of mousse with this recipe, depending on how big the glasses are you are using.
- You can serve these immediately but they won't be as thick. They only need an hour or so in the fridge to firm right up.
- Feel free to halve this recipe - I usually only make that much which is great if only making for a few!

Is there an alternative to heavy cream?? Can I use chia maybe or something very low fat???
Cassie says
Hi Sue, this is a 2 ingredient dessert. Both ingredients are necessary to make it. If you're looking for a healthy type of chocolate mousse I'm sure there's some recipe out there but it's not really my jam. Sorry I can't be more help - this is just an indulgence to eat on special occasions.
