These chocolate pinwheels are an easy treat that the whole family will love. Made with frozen puff pastry and nutella, you'll love how quickly they come together in either the oven or the air fryer.

These nutella puff pastry pinwheels are such an easy treat to pull together at a moments notice. They can be made in just 15 minutes in the air fryer, or 25 minutes in the oven.
These chocolate pinwheels remind me of a chocolate croissant, but require much less effort to make! Sprinkle them with icing sugar (powdered sugar) to serve alongside a cup of tea or coffee. Delicious!
INGREDIENTS
Here's what you'll need to make a batch of these nutella puff pastry pinwheels at home (measurements are listed in the full recipe at the bottom of this page)...
- Puff Pastry
- Nutella
- Icing Sugar / Powdered Sugar
INSTRUCTIONS
Spread nutella over the puff pastry sheet, then roll up tight and cut into 8 even pieces.
To cook in the oven - Preheat the oven to 180C / 350F. Place pinwheels on a baking tray and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden and flaky.
To cook in the air fryer - Place pinwheels in the air fryer basket and cook on 180C / 350F for 10 minutes, or until golden and flaky.
Place cooked pinwheels on a wire rack to cool completely, then sift icing sugar / powdered sugar on top and serve.
TOP TIPS
- If you're cooking in the air fryer be sure to check in on your pinwheels a few minutes before the suggested cooking time finishes. Some air fryers are more powerful than others and you don't want to overcook your pinwheels.
- If you're wanting to serve these to guests and get a lovely deep golden colour on the puff pastry I'd suggest brushing the outside of the pinwheels with a simple egg wash first. I never do this because it makes no difference to taste and seems like a waste of an egg, but they can be paler in colour when you cook them in the oven without an egg wash.
- I put a chocolate drizzle on the pinwheels for the photos, and you can do this to either by making your nutella more liquid in the microwave (just zap for 20 sec intervals), or melting down a chocolate block and drizzling over.
